The Biodiversity Virtual
Resources offering consists of a solid underlying platform
architecture upon which applications are built.

The Platform Architecture (shown in
blue) is the aspect of our offering that controls
the data and the communication between nodes on the distributed network.
This platform provides the foundation upon which supporting applications
and tool-sets may be built.
The Applications (examples in
purple) are built on top of the platform and act as the
interface between the user and the underlying data. These applications are
designed to be easy-to use and are targeted at specific user groups and
needs-level.
The fundamental concept behind BVR's is to create a knowledge
network of biodiversity data using Distributed, or peer-to-peer
network technology.
